How to Lose Weight by including Breakfast in your Diet!


Skipping Breakfast is a definite “no no” for optimum health and energy. This is as true when you’re on a fat loss diet as any other time. A healthy breakfast kick starts your body’s metabolism with energy and provides much needed nutrients.

Suppose you haven’t eaten since the previous evening at around 8pm. If you skip breakfast, your next meal is likely to be at 12pm midday.  Having not eaten for 16 hours, your body will be receiving an unmistakable starvation signal, and it will be more predisposed to storing fat at the feeding. You must eat breakfast and this is particularly true if you are on a weight loss diet. Here are some of the key reasons why:

1.  Eating breakfast helps maintain lean body tissue (muscle). When you are on a program to lose weight, you want that weight loss to come from fat, not muscle. Muscle is active body tissue and burns calories even when at rest. If you lose muscle, your body’s natural rate of calorie burning decreases.

2. Eating Breakfast boosts your fat burning metabolism. Eating breakfast increases the amount of calories you burn, helping fat and weight loss.

3. Avoid Hunger and Cravings. Eating breakfast means you will feel satisfied and less hungry. This means you are less likely to binge on cakes and sweets, which are not ideal if you are trying to lose fat!

Many people say they can’t face eating food so early in the morning. But if you want to reduce your body fat, it’s a habit you need to build. Here’s how:

  • Make it Tasty. It’s easier to get into the habit of eating breakfast if you eat foods which taste good. You must of course select healthy and low calorie breakfast choices.
  • Start off small. If you really can’t face eating breakfast in the morning, then start small. Perhaps try a piece of fruit. Increase the meal size every week until you are eating a proper breakfast. And don’t forget to drink water!
  • Do it every day. Don’t skip breakfast on any day. This way you will build the habit of eating breakfast. Before long, it will be something you enjoy and not want to do without. Not to mention the health and fat loss benefits!
  • Plan ahead. Make sure you have a supply of ingredients available so that you can eat breakfast every day.
